The beauty of nature, captured in glass…….. My sisters and I had a lovely day. How fragile we are……..
The title The Moonlight Garden refers to the moonlight garden at the Taj Mahal in India. This was built to reside in the moonlight at night: the garden as a protected place where man can lap up and marvel at the beauty of nature. This theme is decisive in the recent work of Marc Mulders, both in oil and in glass. His most recent stained glass window, also titled Moonlight Garden, is the radiant center of the exhibition. The window will be here for the first time to see, after the exposition it gets a place in a house in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

Cuypersmuseum

Recently we visited the Cuypersmuseum. Pierre Cuypers is one of the most famous architects of the Netherlands with his neo-gothic style. He designed the central station/Amsterdam and the Rijksmuseum.

He also designed many churches, unfortunately  many churches were destroyed by war, by fire or by modern times, to make place for modern buildings and offices.

I made some pictures to inspire you. My sisters an I had a wonderful day!

Leids Ontzet by Erwin Olaf

I want to show you these pictures. They look like an old painting of Rembrandt or another Dutch master. But these are the amazing pictures made by Erwin Olaf, one of the most prominent Dutch photograpers. The Dutch city of Leiden celebrates the libaraton of the Spanish (1574).
Erwin Olaf added some modern small issues (a handbag, an i-pod and thongs) but you have to look very closely to find them.

He was inspired by an old painting.
You can see the making of by following this link of the newspaper: NRC

In mixed media we often use images of paintngs, perhaps these pictures will inspire you, but remind the copyright. I admire those artists who are able to transform their ideas into art. I must admit that sometimes I'm a bit jealous of their skills.
